For everyone receiving their version 7 licenses upgrades or version 8 codes, here are a few things to know.
1. Version 8 requires Mac OS X 10.5 or above. Version 7.5 is for Mac OS X 10.5 and Version 7.4 is designed to be used with Mac OS X 10.4.
3. Version 8 registration codes have V8 in the code. As version 7 have V7 in the code.
4. Each license can only be used on one machine at a time. Do not try registering it on two or more machines, it will not work.
5. If you have a version 6 or version 7 registered on a computer, you must use the version 8 code where the first 5 numbers match the first 5 numbers of the code that is currently registered on that machine. Here is an example of the pattern. (The numbers that follow the first 5 are unique to every code.)
80001-1234567-SPORTSCODE-V6-Sportstec Support
80001-7654321-SPORTSCODE-V7-Sportstec Support
80001-9876543-SPORTSCODE-V8-Sportstec Support
6. To find out which code is registered on a machine. Launch SportsCode and select System information... from the SportsCode drop down menu (Next to the apple in upper left hand corner of the screen). You will find the code in the Online ID line of the output window near the top.
7. After matching the codes, you can register the version 8 software right over the top of the old one.
Please email support@sportstec.com if you have any troubles.
These release notes apply to SportsCode and SportsCode Gamebreaker versions 8.2.1.
This is a critical update for everyone running version 8 of our SportsCode products.
Since the last release, we have again focused on capture. This version has significant updates and refinements to the entire capture process.
Capture
- Memory leak fixes
- Tweaks to help with CPU load, many systems were being overdriven while capturing, coding, extra compressing, timeline sharing and mirroring codes at once. It is recommended to test your workflow part by part while using Activity Monitor to see if CPU is over stressed.
- Changed keyboard shortcuts for ending capture to COMMAND+/.
- Sleep suspended during capture
- Fixed bug in calculation of movie time
- Fixed bug when pausing and update occur simultaneously
- Fixed problem where capture would not end properly and display a timeline.
- Append capture switches to capture mode
- Checks added that will continue to try and work when bad failures occur
- Changes how often movie are accessed during capture. Movie updates have been limited to specified movies.
- A process called movie idiling has been stopped. This occurs when the system is not under stress
- Quickstart capture routine updated for iCal capturing
- Refinements made particularly when ending capture.
- Extra compression has been throttled down a knotch. This might result in slower compression times depending on CPU speed. We are working on a small window with a progress bar for better user feedback. Currently, the capture window shows the progress. Set the capture window preferences to not close capture window after completing, the feedback will be presented in the window. Once the process is complete, the switch message will popup. If the Do it later button is pressed, the extra compression data folder will not be automatically swtiched on next launch of package. This allows you to grab the export data folder in the package and make a new reference movie, in essence capturing 2 files. We are working on this procedure now, so that it will create two packages allowing for mirroring of the extra compression only.
- Timeline sharing updates to fix problem where timeline share timeline was not presenting the correct instance movies. The timeline share process was dropping a movie part during the live updating, the loss of the movie part was causing the overall movie to be shorter.
- Timeline share updates for better file tracking and checking to construct timeline share reference movie.
- Communications capture buttons are disabled or enabled according to connection status. Also, bug when setting password crash fixed in remote communications.
- iCal capture dialog window bug fix for setting times. End time changes were updating start times already set, thus leading to incorrect times being added to iCal.
- iCal was sending event to any found SportsCode application which could lead to opening wrong version. It now uses direct file path to the application that set the event. Warning, do not move application after setting iCal events.
- Added new preferences in the capture panel of the preferences. The aim of these options is to simplify the capture process.
- Allow code mode during capture. When this option is deselected, the code mode button in the code window is not accessible. This option is deselected by default.
- Show timeline movie during capture. When this option is deselected, the live timeline movie is not displayed. This option is deselected by default.
- New custom toolbar tools. To access these, press the customize button in the toolbar. Drag the icons from roll out sheet and drop them in the toolbar. The default icons are Capture and Append Capture.
Mirror Codes
- Improved for movie reference and timeline_share_information.plist synchronizing
- The delay at the end of the process has been made longer to allow for more checks. Just before the 'Code copy complete' message is shown, the movie reference is copied to insure that a good package is finished.
- Mirror codes stops system sleeping, but the screen saver will still show.
- The process does not copy the EXPORT DATA folder. This will help reduce network traffic. See extra compression in capture section above for more information on future developments.
Matrix
- Bug fix when clicking on column or row names for labels to make movies. If a label name was double clicked on to make a movie, the next time a label name was doubled clicked on the last movie was made again. Also, this could result in a merged instance of the last double click and the current.
- Instances with no labels, will not open from the totals column.
- Ignored Groups print from the matrix has been fixed.
- Bug fix when when closing another window while Matrix is open.
Preferences
- Fix for RSLOW button on Commando remote does not change behavior.
- Commando Remote default preferences do not match system default prefences.
- Minor changes to defaults ot better reflect remote
- Commando Remote RSLOW > Code button crash when setting behavior has been fixed.
- Maximum number of instance movies that can be open, now set to 100.
- Multiview preferences allow same hotkey to be assigned, this no longer can happen.
- Multiview hotkeys are blank if FN keys are used.
- Added new preference panel for edit list. These prefences are turned off by default.
- XML edit list options for enabling / disabling and folder destination
- Excel edit list options for enabling / disabling and folder destination
Flagging
- Added visual graphic when flag is coded. We will continue to work on this, making this better with preferences.
- Hid the <flag> tag seen before the flag label. Flag labels are presented in green text. We plan to add an icon in the front of the flag label.
Imports & Exports
- NHL EVS updates. A lot of work in this for area for our NHL customers.
- Final Cut Edit List export. This has been rewritten. It is much faster than previous version. Works exactly the same as previous version.
Statistical Window
- Fixed printing for large code output windows causing crash
- Fixed show instances problem when using this command in multiple cells in the same row.
Find
- Added Matrix options in find and replace
- "Make movie" on the find window creates a single movie for multiple timelines. It used to make one movie for each timeline.
- After searching across multiple timelines in a folder, the timelines would not open up properly again until application was relaunched. This has been fixed.
- Fixed problem when using the generate results feature for a sorter where the columns are not generated the same in the results as they are in the original sorter.
- Find and replace added for title buttons.
- Renaming searches in the Favorite search column, now highlights the whole name.
General
- Invisible files not made any longer for databases and combined timeline.
- Open file procedures rewritten.
- The application launching procedure has been modernised.
- When linking and packaging movies with long names, the name is not shortened with special code, cutting it down to 27 characters. Example: USvsTHEMonNOVEMBER-27-2#98F.SCpkg
Now: USvsTHEMonNOVEMEBER-27-2009.SCpkg
